Malaysia attends BRICS meeting with praise for Prime Minister Modi

Malaysia participated in the recent high-level BRICS gathering, where Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised Narendra Modi's international stature. Anwar said, “See, Prime Minister Modi is so popular; I got so many messages to pass on regards to him.” The meeting underscored the growing ties between India and Malaysia within the BRICS framework.

Anwar Ibrahim described Modi's global reach and popularity during the discussions. Malaysia's presence at the BRICS summit marks a significant engagement with the group. The two countries discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, defence, security, infrastructure, digital economy, energy, fintech, education, tourism, and people-to-people ties.

The Malaysian Prime Minister's visit to India was his first since assuming office. He reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and expressed optimism about future collaboration. Anwar emphasized the complementary strengths of Malaysia and India, noting potential in industrial collaboration, supply chain integration, talent development, and two-way investments.

The summit also featured cultural exchanges, with Anwar Ibrahim singing a popular Kishore Kumar song, reflecting shared cultural connections. The event highlighted efforts to build resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability among BRICS members, with Malaysia actively participating in these goals.
