Attempt to Stop Chief Minister's Convoy, 8 Detained

An attempt was made to stop Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's convoy near the Secretariat in Chennai. The police have detained eight people, including a couple, who are said to be relatives of Akash Delison, a youth who died in police custody in March.

According to the police, these people tried to break the security cordon and reach the Chief Minister while the convoy was passing. All have been taken into custody for questioning. Officials said those detained may be released after the assembly proceedings conclude.
