FDA Suspends Food Licences of ISKCON Juhu Over Hygiene Issues

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licences of ISKCON Juhu and three other ISKCON establishments in Mumbai due to hygiene lapses, including pest infestations and choked drains. The suspension also affects an IRCTC food supplier, the FDA said on September 9.

The FDA cited poor sanitation and safety standards as reasons for the suspension. The affected establishments reportedly failed to maintain adequate hygiene, leading to the action. The FDA's move aims to ensure the safety and well-being of devotees and guests who consume food at these locations.

An official from ISKCON Juhu responded, stating, "The safety, hygiene and well-being of our devotees, guests and all those we serve remain our highest priority." They assured that corrective measures would be taken promptly to address the concerns raised by the FDA.
