BCCI Reveals New Plan for SENA Countries
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said that the board will give players rest and practice match opportunities before major series in SENA countries. Along with this, a roadmap for the team's performance and strategy for the next one year has also been prepared.
In a meeting held on September 3 at BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, T20 captain Shreyas Iyer, head coach Gautam Gambhir, COE Cricket Director VVS Laxman, and other officials were present. The meeting reviewed the team's performance on the England and Ireland tours.
Saikia said that the board will work in such a way that before any major series in SENA countries, players get sufficient time to adapt to the conditions there and get practice matches. Officials have also been instructed for this.
He said that BCCI is working like a well-organized machine, with proper coordination between the women's team, technical staff, coaching staff, and the Centre of Excellence.
He added that the board's full focus is on preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup and necessary practice and preparations will be done for it.
Saikia said that too many matches are being played in a year, which is a challenge. Therefore, some changes and measures will be made in the next Future Tour Program (FTP) so that players get full opportunity for rest and preparation.
The Indian team's next overseas tour will be to New Zealand, where series in all three formats will be played. Currently, many key players are injured, which is a matter of concern.
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar was not present at the meeting.
