A special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) will be conducted in Uttar Pradesh on November 3, 2026. This exam has been made mandatory for all working teachers under the Supreme Court's order dated September 1 last year. The application process will start from September 5 and continue until October 8.

Purpose and Eligibility of the Exam

The Special TET exam is being organized for teachers who have been working since before 2011 and have failed the TET. Additionally, special teachers (CWSN) will also be able to participate in this exam. Teachers from schools recognized and aided by the Basic Education Council, local bodies, and the state government will fall under the scope of this exam.

The exam will have 150 multiple-choice questions, with 1 mark awarded for each correct answer and no negative marking. General category candidates must score a minimum of 60 percent, i.e., 90 marks, while OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories must score 55 percent, i.e., 82 marks.

Application Process and Instructions

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has issued a notification for the Special TET exam. Applications will start from September 5, and amendments will be allowed until October 8.

Applications for the exam will be submitted online on the commission's website. Candidates will have to pay the application fee, after which they can print the application form.

Supreme Court Order and Exam Background

The Supreme Court ordered on September 1, 2027, that passing the TET will be mandatory for all working teachers, with the last date set as August 31, 2028. In compliance with this order, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to conduct the Special TET exam.

This exam will provide an additional opportunity under the Teacher Eligibility Test to enable more teachers to qualify. Chairman Anil Yadav said, "This will provide great relief to teachers working before 2011."

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has been directed to issue advertisements on a priority basis and conduct the exam.
