Kerala woman vlogger faces arrest threat in Afghanistan over solo travel

A Kerala-based woman travel vlogger said she was threatened with arrest by local authorities in Bamyan, Afghanistan, because the country's law prohibits women from traveling alone. She was eventually allowed to continue her journey after discussions, but described the ordeal as a consequence of being a woman.

The vlogger, who had earlier claimed she was arrested by the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, clarified that local officials in Bamyan had threatened to detain her, citing the law that forbids women from traveling alone. She said, "I had to go through all this only because I am a woman," and added that she planned to travel around 500 kilometres further. After talks with the authorities, she was permitted to proceed to the next country.
