Janmashtami Program Organized on Radha-Krishna Theme in Kotdwar
KOTDWAR। Cultural programs on the Radha-Krishna theme were held in the schools of Kotdwar on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Principal Ravindra Kumar said that these events develop confidence, leadership skills, and team spirit among children. At Gopal Temple, Lord Shri Krishna will be adorned with precious jewelry worth 100 crore rupees.
Children in schools performed dances, skits, bhajans, and songs dressed as Radha and Krishna, creating a devotional atmosphere. The school management said such activities boost children's confidence. Teachers encouraged the participating students.
On Janmashtami day, the doors of the temple at Gopal Temple will be opened for devotees at 12 noon. On this occasion, Lord Shri Krishna will be adorned with traditional jewelry brought from the bank locker, worth more than 100 crore rupees in total. These include a necklace with seven strings, a gem-studded crown, and precious stones like sapphire, ruby, and emerald.
Tight security arrangements, including CCTV cameras, have been made in the temple premises. A committee formed by the Municipal Commissioner will monitor the entire process. After midnight following the birth, the jewelry will be secured again and kept in the treasury.
Gopal Temple was constructed in 1843 by Queen Baijabai of the then Scindia dynasty. Its architecture is a blend of Maratha style and European design. The temple's grandeur is enhanced by white marble statues and silver-plated doors.
A mini Vrindavan has been decorated on the occasion of Janmashtami, where devotional Krishna songs will echo in 108 temples. The festival will be organized from 7 pm, including fairs and food stalls. Winners of the child dressing competition will be awarded.
The live Radha-Krishna selfie point will be the main attraction for devotees at the event. Several members, including Nyas Committee Secretary Hariprasad Vijayvargiya, Jaynarayan Vijay, Sanjay Gupta, and Ram Bharat, as well as patrons of the Milap Committee BK Vijay, Rohit Sharda, Prince Pandey, Priya Sinha, and Jitendra Barnwal, are playing an active role.
