Family Devastated by Deaths of Mother and Children in Ramgarh Within 24 Hours
In Pali-Suddi Pargadha village of Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, two sons of a family died during treatment on Wednesday evening. After their deaths within about 10 minutes of each other, their mother Sangeeta Devi also died the next day during treatment at Ranchi RIMS.
Family members said that Sangeeta Devi and her two sons Ramkishun (15) and Sahil (9) had been ill for four to five days. Blood tests confirmed malaria and typhoid in all three. On Wednesday evening, the children's condition suddenly worsened, and the family was taking them for treatment, but both died before reaching the hospital. There was about a 10-minute gap between the deaths of the two children.
After the children’s deaths, Sangeeta Devi was taken to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital in critical condition, from where she was referred to Ranchi RIMS for better treatment. She also died during treatment there. Thus, within 24 hours, three members of the same family died, creating an atmosphere of mourning and fear in the village.
The administration has taken the matter seriously and started health checks in the surrounding areas. Patratū BDO Manoj Gupta, along with a medical team, visited the village and collected blood samples from the villagers. He said, "After the incident, medical camps are being set up in Pali-Suddi Pargadha and nearby villages as well." The team is testing for malaria and typhoid.
The family also resorted to traditional healing during the illness, but the administration has not yet officially confirmed the causes of death. The priority now is to investigate the causes of the illness and protect the surrounding people from infection.
