School Bus Driver Sexually Harassed 3-Year-Old Girl

ACCORDING TO INFORMATION। In Navi Mumbai, a private school bus driver sexually harassed a 3-year-old girl. The police have arrested the accused and will present him in court. The girl informed her grandmother about the incident after reaching home.

According to the police, the accused is the driver of a private bus hired to pick up and drop children from school. Around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, students of a kindergarten and primary school located in Kamothe were seated in the bus to be dropped home. When the other children got off at their respective stops, the girl remained alone in the bus. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the accused misbehaved with the girl.

The girl told her grandmother after reaching home that the driver uncle had behaved inappropriately with her. Following this, the grandmother informed the school management and filed a complaint with the police. Medical examination confirmed the sexual harassment. The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections applicable to rape of a girl under 12 years of age and the POCSO Act.

According to the family, the girl narrated the entire incident after coming home and complained of severe stomach pain. The police have arrested the accused and will present him in court on Friday. Statements of the school management staff will also be recorded.

Despite the rule that there should always be a lady attendant in the school bus and that the bus should have a live tracker kept with the family, this incident occurred, raising questions on the school administration. Meanwhile, interrogation of the accused driver is ongoing.

This case has come to light at a time when a gang rape incident of a 16-year-old student in a private bus also occurred in Delhi. The police have arrested both accused in that case.

Navi Mumbai police have taken strict action considering the sensitivity of the case. The accused has been sent to police custody until Saturday.
