Renowned Manipuri guitarist assaulted near home in southeast Delhi

Chongtham Vikram Singh, a well-known Manipuri guitarist and pioneer of Western music, was assaulted near his residence in southeast Delhi late on September 7. The attack, captured on CCTV, has sparked demands for swift police investigation and justice, amid concerns over rising lawlessness against people from the Northeast.

According to reports, the accused chased Singh to the third floor of his building, overpowered him in the corridor, and inflicted multiple blows before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm, with further developments noted at 1:38 am.

The attack has deeply saddened the music community and raised alarm over growing violence targeting Northeastern residents. Calls have been made urging the Delhi Police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure prompt justice for the victim.
