West Bengal Bans Liquor Sale and DJs on Maha Ashtami

West Bengal will see a complete ban on liquor sales and DJ music on Maha Ashtami during Durga Puja, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced. The government has set new rules to regulate the festivities, aiming to maintain decorum during the religious event.

The state government has prohibited the sale of alcohol on Ashtami, one of the key days of Durga Puja. Additionally, the use of DJ music during the celebrations has been banned to ensure a peaceful environment. The Chief Minister urged larger, financially capable puja committees not to accept government grants for their events. However, for smaller committees that require financial assistance to organise the celebrations, the government will provide a grant of Rs 1 lakh.
