PM Modi Highlights BRICS Nations' Share in Global GDP at Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that BRICS countries account for 40% of the global GDP during his address at the BRICS Summit. He highlighted India's efforts in building economic bridges amid rising global trade barriers, underscoring the importance of cooperation among member nations.

Modi pointed out that while the global GDP has grown by 2.5 times over recent years, the combined GDP of BRICS nations has increased by approximately 4.5 times. He emphasized that the approach within BRICS focuses on reducing barriers and expanding business opportunities. "Our approach in BRICS is also the same -- to reduce barriers and increase opportunities for businesses," he said.

The Prime Minister encouraged member countries to leverage cooperation frameworks to boost investment and talent exchange. He remarked, "All of you can take advantage of these cooperation frameworks and increase the exchange of investment and talent among our countries."

Modi also referred to the ongoing startup revolution in India, highlighting the country's dynamic economic environment. He described the summit's theme as "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."

In a statement reflecting on international relations, Modi said, "When the leaders of two great nations join hands, they remind us of the historic friendship between two great civilizations." This was noted during his engagement at the BRICS Business Forum, where he displayed a rare gesture of camaraderie with Iran's Pezeshkian.
