NIEPA Honored 84 Education Officers for Innovation

NEW DELHI। The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration honored 84 district and block level education officers from 22 states and union territories with national awards for innovation. The awards were presented at the conclusion of a two-day national conference.

The program was chaired by NIEPA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari. She said, "The honored innovations show that grassroots education officers are not only implementing policies but also developing solutions to problems according to local conditions."

Former NCERT Director Prof. J.S. Rajput, while presenting the awards, said, "Education should not be limited to imparting knowledge alone. It is necessary to develop the ability in students to use their capacity, character, and acquired knowledge for the welfare of society."

He further said that educational leadership should be based on knowledge, empathy, humility, and continuous learning. Documenting and sharing such innovations will help adopt successful models in other areas.

This program was organized under the National Education Policy-2020 to promote quality and innovation in education. It emphasized not limiting the role of education officers to policy compliance but developing solutions according to local needs.

The inclusion of Indian knowledge tradition in education was also deemed necessary, which teaches balance between the individual, society, and nature. This balance aids in character building and capacity development in education.

During this program, the 39th National Education Policy-2020 Orientation and Sensitization Program was also held in collaboration with the UGC-Malviya Mission Teacher Training Center of Central University of Haryana and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi.
