BJP claims to form boards in more than three-fourths of bodies in civic polls

ALWAR। Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, BJP has presented five years of development promises to the public and the party will respond to these promises.

BJP state in-charge Radhamohan Agrawal told reporters at the party office in Alwar that BJP has made development promises to the public through the Jan Sankalp Patra.

He said that the announcement of BJP's pledge document has caused Congress to be alarmed.

In the state, civic polls had not been held for the past two years, due to which councillors were unable to reach the urban bodies. Now elections are taking place and there is a possibility of BJP forming boards in the bodies. There is hope of the government being formed again on the strength of BJP's development work.

The nomination process for civic polls in 20 districts of Rajasthan has been completed. On Wednesday, more than 218 candidates withdrew their nominations in 309 bodies. Leaders of both parties are engaged in persuading the rebels.

BJP and Congress held several rounds of meetings regarding ticket distribution, but about 200 candidates' nominations were rejected. Congress has suffered more losses compared to BJP. The cancellation of nominations in several districts including Ajmer, Pali, Dausa, Karauli, Hanumangarh has changed the electoral equations.

In Alwar, Congress candidate Hemant Kumar's nomination was rejected due to a criminal record, while BJP's former acting president Shakuntala Soni's nomination was also canceled. This has raised questions about the verification of candidates' documents and legal eligibility.

In Ajmer, Congress block spokesperson Brajkishore Joshi and his son Yash Joshi have left Congress and joined BJP. Yash withdrew his nomination filed as an independent candidate.

In the civic polls, both BJP and Congress are claiming to form their boards in municipal councils. BJP district president Rakesh Jain said that this time BJP's mayor will be elected in Kota. He informed that most of the workers and candidates who did not get the party ticket have withdrawn their nominations. He said, "Sloganeering and burning effigies is Congress's work, not BJP's."

BJP's Chandrashekhar Bawanakule said that in the coming five years, BJP's triple engine government will fulfill the promises made in the pledge document.

Political activities are intense in the final phase of civic polls in Rajasthan and the contest between the two parties is tough.

BJP will form its board in more than three-fourths of Rajasthan's bodies in this civic election.
