Three Animals Found Infected with Lumpy Virus in Nainital

After confirmation of the Lumpy Skin Disease virus in Nainital district, the Animal Husbandry Department has launched an intensive campaign to stop the infection. So far, three animals have been found infected in the district, including two from Rajpura Gaushala and one from Govindpur Garhwal area. The department has formed 163 teams and vaccinated 1,22,301 animals.

 After confirmation of the Lumpy Skin Disease virus in Nainital district, the Animal Husbandry Department has launched an intensive campaign to stop the infection. So far, three animals have been found infected in the district, including two from Rajpura Gaushala and one from Govindpur Garhwal area. The department has formed 163 teams and vaccinated 1,22,301 animals.

The Animal Husbandry Department stated that complaints of Lumpy virus infection are being received from rural areas. The department has said that if any animal shows symptoms such as lumps on the body, fever, or discharge from eyes or nose, it should be immediately separated from healthy animals. It is very important to prevent the infected animal from coming into contact with other animals.

42 samples were sent for testing in the district, out of which reports for 12 have been received. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the department has accelerated the vaccination work. Teams are going village to village vaccinating animals and distributing necessary medicines. At the same time, livestock owners are being informed about the symptoms, prevention, and precautions regarding the disease.

To prevent the spread of infection, transportation of animals like buffaloes and cows from other states and places has been banned. The administration believes that the movement of animals poses a risk of spreading the infection. The Animal Husbandry Department has appealed to livestock owners to exercise special caution.

Along with maintaining cleanliness in animal enclosures, spraying insecticides to control mosquitoes and flies has also been advised. The department has stated that so far 1,22,301 animals have been vaccinated.
