Janmashtami Celebrations in 108 Temples in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA। Janmashtami celebrations are underway in 108 Krishna temples in Mini Vrindavan of Ludhiana. Religious and cultural programs will be held as before, immersing the town in a devotional atmosphere. Temples have been decorated with attractive tableaux and markets are bustling with purchases of decorations for the deity.

Tehsildar R.N. Mishra stated that religious and cultural programs will be held on the occasion of Janmashtami as before. Tableaux have been arranged in several temples including Guman Bihari temple and many temples in Sadar Bazaar. The town is known as Mini Vrindavan because it has 108 Krishna temples.

At ISKCON Janpath’s Shri Radha Gopinath temple, a Janmashtami festival is being organized, where celebrations will begin on Saturday evening at 7 PM. The fair will feature various food stalls and winners of the child costume competition will be awarded. The lively Radha-Krishna selfie point will be a main attraction for devotees.

Temples are crowded with devotees and markets are busy with purchases of deity costumes, decorations, and dry fruits.

The Shri Brijraj Swami temple located in Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, is unique as it houses the idols of Lord Shri Krishna along with Meera Bai. This temple holds a distinct identity for Krishna devotees across the country. The temple’s history is linked to King Jagat Singh, who brought these idols from Chittorgarh in 1629.

On the occasion of Janmashtami, the temples become completely devotional in appearance and devotees come from far and wide.

This event is being successfully organized with the active involvement of several members including Nyas Committee Secretary Hariprasad Vijayvargiya, Jaynarayan Vijay, Sanjay Gupta, and Ram Bharat Milap Committee patrons BK Vijay, Rohit Sharda, Prince Pandey, Priya Sinha, and Jitendra Barnwal.
