Mosaic Disease Damages Moong-Urad Crop in Ajmer Villages

AJMER। Mosaic disease is rapidly spreading in the moong and urad crops in Mevadakala and about a dozen nearby villages in Ajmer. Farmers say that the disease is causing fields to become barren and production has almost ended.

After the impact of rain and weather, the mosaic disease has now dashed the hopes of farmers. In Mevadakala, Devliakhurd, Kannauj, Devgaon, Nayagaon Kumawtoka, Mankhand, Rupnivas, Salari, Taswaria, Lasadia, Chhabadiya, Molakia, Manda and surrounding villages, the disease is rapidly increasing in moong and urad crops. In many fields, the leaves of moong plants have turned yellow, and in some fields, the situation is so bad that the hope of production from standing crops has almost ended.

Farmer Sojiram Daga said, "Due to the disease in moong and urad crops in the area, fields are reaching a state of being barren." Farmers say that insurance benefits should be given based on actual damage and have demanded that a survey of the damage be conducted field by field.

According to farmers, information about the disease and damage in the crops has already been given to the agricultural department and survey representatives of the concerned insurance company. Ramnivas Jangid, Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension, Kekri, said that the crop damage in the area has been estimated at about 20 to 25 percent.
