Alert for Heavy Rain and Storm Across the Country on September 4

The monsoon is fully active in various parts of the country, and heavy rain and storms are expected in several states on September 4. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for areas including northeastern Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and central Maharashtra.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area has formed over northeastern Madhya Pradesh and surrounding regions, resulting in ongoing rainfall. Very heavy rain is expected in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh on September 4. Rain alerts have also been issued for Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, and western and eastern Rajasthan.

Storm and lightning warnings have been issued for Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh. For central India, heavy rain is expected in large parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. There is a possibility of storms and lightning in Chhattisgarh, eastern and western Madhya Pradesh.

Heavy rain is also expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar in eastern India. Some areas of Odisha have been issued heavy rain alerts.

In the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, warnings for heavy rain and lightning have been issued. Very heavy rain is expected in Konkan and Goa as well. Heavy rain alerts have been issued for parts of Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra.

Storm and lightning are likely in central Maharashtra and Marathwada on September 4.

The monsoon rainfall continues in the northern and central parts of Chhattisgarh. The highest rainfall of 14 centimeters was recorded in Pondi Bachra of Surguja. Eight centimeters of rain was recorded in Kusmi, six centimeters in Daura Kochli. Five centimeters each were recorded in Rajpur, Bilaspur, Surajpur, and Ramchandrapur, and four centimeters each in Janakpur Bharatpur, Ramanujganj, Biharpur, and Premnagar.

Due to heavy rainfall, a one-day holiday was declared for all government and private schools in Balrampur district. In Korea district, children were sent home early from school. In residential areas of Ambikapur, water entered homes and shops due to drainage blockage. In the VIP colony of Manendragarh, streets were knee-deep in water.
