Gold with October 5, 2026 expiry on MCX traded down by ₹1,170 or 0.75 percent at ₹1,54,605 per 10 grams. Silver also showed pressure, with December 4, 2026 expiry silver falling ₹2,589 or 1.07 percent to ₹2,39,760 per kilogram.

During trading, gold touched a high of ₹1,57,075 and a low of ₹1,54,605. Silver prices slipped to a low of ₹2,39,525. Both precious metals also recorded declines in the international market. Around 6:52 AM, gold on COMEX was down 0.56 percent at $4,514.60 per ounce, while silver traded down 0.89 percent at $67.10 per ounce.

The decline in gold and silver prices is mainly attributed to employment data released from the US. These figures indicate the state of the US economy and hint at the Federal Reserve’s next steps. Profit booking was also seen after recent gains.

Rising dollar and US bond yields have also put pressure on precious metals. Generally, when the dollar and bond yields strengthen, gold faces pressure as it does not yield interest. Currently, the market is focused on upcoming signals regarding US employment data and interest rates.

If employment data remains weak and the likelihood of tightening interest rates decreases, gold and silver may find support.
