Flood threat rises in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as river levels increase

Flood threats have increased in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as river levels rise, submerging ghats in several areas. Authorities have positioned National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams in vulnerable districts to conduct relief and rescue operations.

Six NDRF and 27 SDRF teams have been placed on round-the-clock standby in flood-prone districts to manage relief and rescue efforts. Despite rising water levels, continuous monitoring and administrative preparedness have helped contain the floods' impact. Authorities have set up 29 flood relief camps, especially near low-lying areas, with all necessary arrangements in place. Currently, river water levels remain below the danger mark.

Experts have warned that fish displaced by floods may become contaminated with bacteria, viruses, and fungi after exposure to sewage, dead animals, and other waste, posing health risks.
