PM Modi urges teachers to connect beyond textbooks with students

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Teachers' Day called on educators to go beyond textbooks and syllabi to truly connect with children. He emphasised the importance of recognising behavioural changes in students and helping them overcome challenges such as excessive screen time and drug addiction, according to multiple reports.

Modi urged teachers to be alert to changes in children’s behaviour, identify the causes, and assist them in overcoming harmful habits. He stressed that preserving the innocence of childhood requires attention to sports, physical games, and creative activities. The Prime Minister also highlighted the need to address issues like drug addiction and excessive use of digital devices among students.

He encouraged educators to engage with students through innovative methods such as models, competitions, and digital platforms. Modi said, "I am addressing you all, but I also wish to convey a message to the entire education community: we must step beyond textbooks and syllabi to truly connect with children."

The Prime Minister’s message included a call to raise awareness about drugs and to help students reduce screen time. He noted the importance of recognising each child’s unique qualities, talents, and challenges, and tailoring support accordingly. Modi’s interaction with teachers reflected his motivation to engage society more rigorously through education.
