Bombay High Court strikes down Pune’s alcohol ban during Ganesh festival

The High Court described the ban as a blanket restriction that was not justified and ordered its revocation. The administration complied and withdrew the order, ending the prohibition.

Experts have emphasised that while religious beliefs should be respected, they must not be imposed on others. The court’s decision reflects this principle, ensuring that personal freedoms are not curtailed without valid reasons.
