In Ranoli town and 30 surrounding villages, power cuts have been occurring without notice for the past ten days. About 40,000 people are affected, and work in homes and shops has come to a halt in the heat. Villagers have demanded regular supply and prior notice from the electricity department.

Villagers said that the power goes off several times during the day and from the time of evening aarti until night. There is no fixed time for the power cuts, which is affecting household chores, students’ studies, and shopkeepers’ businesses. The elderly, children, and sick people are facing the most difficulties.

Villagers said that not every family has an inverter or alternative electricity arrangement. As soon as the power goes off, fans and coolers stop working, forcing people to sit outside or spend the night outdoors in the heat. They said that if power cuts are necessary, prior information should be given so they can arrange their essential work accordingly.

Villagers reported that the sequence of cuts starts after evening and continues until late at night. When contacted, electricity department employees respond that the power has gone out and they do not know when it will return. The concerned officials do not answer calls.

Villagers have demanded the electricity department stop unannounced cuts and provide continuous power supply at the Dhanau tehsil headquarters. They said that information about maintenance or technical reasons should be given in advance and the supply system should be improved. They have also warned of collective protests if improvements are not made.
