The controversy over the alleged 'purification' ritual at Ramleela Ground after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's public meeting in Haldwani has escalated. A petition has been filed demanding a hearing in the High Court.

What the Petition States

According to the petition, after Kharge's public meeting at Ramleela Ground, a so-called 'purification' ritual was performed by sprinkling Ganga water amid the chanting of Vedic mantras. The petitioner expressed concern that this public event could spread social unrest and tension. They have requested instructions to preserve all electronic and documentary evidence, including video recordings of the public meeting, footage of the event venue, and recordings from nearby CCTV cameras.

Kharge's Allegations and Questions to the Central Government

Mallikarjun Kharge expressed displeasure in a letter to Rajya Sabha Leader of the House J.P. Nadda over the non-registration of an FIR in this matter. He demanded that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami be directed to register the FIR. Kharge expressed surprise that no action has been taken even after 24 days and criticized the filing of a case against Rahul Gandhi. He questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on this issue.

Hearing and Political Preparations

The public interest petition is likely to be heard in the Uttarakhand High Court on September 7. BJP National President Nitin Naveen will participate in the state working committee meeting in Haldwani on September 9 and provide guidance on election strategy. Political activity has intensified amid this controversy.

I have written a letter to Leader of the House Nadda in Rajya Sabha urging the Chief Minister to be directed to register an FIR.
