Monsoon session begins amid protests over prohibited properties

The monsoon session of the Telangana Assembly commenced on September 7, marked by heated debates over the issue of prohibited properties. The opposition raised concerns about the Home Minister's efforts to secure a majority for passing the delimitation bill, while demanding an apology from the Chief Minister for derogatory remarks against the Speaker.

During the session, the opposition accused the ruling party of inappropriate and derogatory conduct. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted the need for a two-thirds majority to pass the delimitation bills, questioning the Home Minister's ability to achieve this. He also urged the BJP to explain why a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe had not been ordered. The opposition emphasized that whether one is the Chief Minister or a legislator, everyone is equal before the Speaker. They criticized the Home Minister for scrambling to secure support during the session, suggesting that the politics of threats and intimidation had reached their limit.
