Mud House Collapses in Rain, Elderly Woman and Two Children Die
In Sitapur, Kanpur Dehat, and Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh, mud walls and houses collapsed due to rain. In this incident, an elderly woman and two innocent children died. The police have recorded the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
In the village Jyotishah Alampur of Kamalapur police station area in Sitapur, a mud wall suddenly collapsed around 9 am on Thursday after rain. Hearing the sound of the wall falling, family members and villagers reached the spot. After clearing the debris, it was found that 52-year-old Brajarani had died. The police inspected the site, recorded the body, and sent it for postmortem. The SDM of Sidhauli has also been informed about the incident.
In Jarasen village of Moosanagar police station area in Kanpur Dehat, the roof of a mud house collapsed during heavy rain. Villagers managed with great effort to rescue two innocent children and their father trapped under the debris, but the children died. The village was engulfed in mourning due to this incident.
In Levdi village of Prayagraj, an 85-year-old elderly woman Ram Pyari died after being trapped under debris when a wall collapsed during last night’s rain. Locals found that the woman had already died while removing the debris.
The risk of mud houses and weak walls collapsing has increased due to the rain. Villagers have demanded that the administration provide financial assistance to the affected families as per rules. Social worker Shailesh Kumar Kushwaha has demanded disaster relief and a housing scheme. SDM Meja Ajit Pratap Singh has assured all possible help.
Police station in-charge Rammohan Rai said that after receiving the application, the bodies were recorded and sent for postmortem. The administration is gathering information about the incident.
Compensation will be given as per government guidelines under natural disaster
