Doha-Bengaluru Indigo Flight Pilot Falls Ill, Emergency Landing in Muscat

NEW DELHI। The pilot of the Indigo flight coming from Doha to Bengaluru suddenly fell ill on Thursday. The aircraft was safely landed in Muscat, Oman. The airline stated that passenger safety is the highest priority and sent an alternate aircraft.

Indigo stated that due to a medical emergency, the aircraft was diverted to Muscat. Upon the pilot falling ill, the relevant authorities were informed as per standard procedures and the aircraft was safely landed at Manohar International Airport.

Passengers waiting for the aircraft in Muscat are being provided food and drinks and are being continuously updated. The airline said that the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft is its highest priority and necessary arrangements are being made to complete the journey soon.

Indigo has sent an alternate aircraft and a new crew team from Bengaluru, which will reach Bengaluru with the passengers. A medical team examined the crew member in Muscat and reported that their condition is better.

Earlier, the flight had taken off from Doha at 9:16 AM and after reaching an altitude of about 14,000 feet, the aircraft was diverted to Muscat due to the pilot falling ill. Indigo apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.

Similar incidents have occurred in recent months where flights had to make emergency landings due to technical faults or medical emergencies. Airlines have stated that passenger safety is their highest priority.
