Dhariyavad Bus Stand Restaurant Found Dirty and Adulterated
PRATAPGARH। The Food Safety Department team inspected Shiv Sahu Restaurant and Cold Drink at Dhariyavad Bus Stand in Pratapgarh on Wednesday. The inspection found the kitchen and premises walls dilapidated, and many food items lacked expiry dates.
During the inspection, cooked food was found uncovered and the dustbin was also without a lid. The food safety team also found the use of prohibited food additives. The staff working in the restaurant was found untrained.
During the investigation, the restaurant operator could not present the pest control certificate, health certificates of food handlers, and the water lab test report. The department has issued an improvement notice for rectification.
The food safety team took samples of mawa barfi, refined soybean oil, and refined flour from the site, which have been sent to the laboratory for testing. According to officials, if the samples are found not to meet standards, action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Rules and Regulations 2011.
The team tested the oil used for frying kachoris with a TPC meter, which showed the oil's TPC level was about 30 times higher than the prescribed standard. Food safety officials destroyed this oil on the spot as per regulations.
Considering the festivals, the Food Safety Department continues to inspect food establishments. Officials said action will continue against the sale of adulterated and unsafe food items. Food safety officers Sunil Kumar Pamecha, Rameshwar Meena, and Kalpana Patel were part of this action.
