BUNDI। In the Bundi Municipal Council elections, several former councillors of Congress and BJP and their relatives are now contesting as independent candidates. Despite the efforts of senior leaders of both major parties, these former councillors are in the fray after being denied party tickets. This has led to triangular contests in many wards.
In Ward 52, BJP councillor Harishankar Saini had sought a ticket for his wife Rekha Saini, but since this seat is reserved for a general woman candidate, BJP did not give the ticket. Rekha Saini is now contesting as an independent candidate. BJP has given the ticket from this ward to Yash Modi, son of former chairman Mahavir Modi, while Ramveer is also an independent candidate.
From Ward 27, BJP has given the ticket to local Bharat Sharma, while former leader of opposition Mukesh Madhwani is contesting as an independent. There are a total of five candidates in this ward, including former independent councillor Hariom Gurjar.
