100 Rupees per Quintal Subsidy to Potato Farmers under Bhamashah Scheme in Bagpat

BAGPAT। Registration has started under the Bhamashah Price Stability Scheme for potato-producing farmers in Bagpat. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a subsidy of up to 100 rupees per quintal if market prices fall. The benefit of the scheme will be available only to farmers registered on the departmental portal.

Following the instructions of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Horticulture Department has implemented the Bhamashah Price Stability Scheme and subsidy work plan for potato storage charges in private cold storages for the financial year 2026-27. All potato-producing farmers in the district have been appealed to register online to avail the benefits of the scheme.

Under the scheme, only farmers cultivating potato crops on a maximum area of two hectares will be eligible. According to the limit of 200 quintals per hectare, a subsidy of up to 20,000 rupees will be given at the rate of 100 rupees per quintal.

To avail the subsidy, it is mandatory for farmers to be registered on the departmental portal and have a farmer ID. Additionally, they must upload Aadhaar card, bank passbook, mobile number, land records (khatoni-khasra) of the potato land, signed storage receipt from cold storage, rent payment receipt, gate pass, and sack count receipts.

Inspector Pushpendra Yadav said that to avail the scheme benefits, potato farmers must apply on the departmental portal. Officer Paras Nath said that the objective of the Bhamashah Price Stability Fund Scheme is to provide relief to potato farmers in case of a fall in market prices.

Prices of onion and garlic are also fluctuating. In the market, small-sized garlic is selling wholesale at 90 to 100 rupees per kilo and large-sized garlic at 140 to 150 rupees per kilo. Onion prices remain between 30 and 40 rupees per kilo. Due to continuous rain, there is a problem of onion consignments rotting, raising concerns about price increases.

According to traders, demand for onions was low due to the month of Shravan, but demand is expected to increase after the Raksha Bandhan festival. Increased consumption of onions in hotels and roadside eateries may stabilize prices.

Heavy rains in the markets of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have affected onion crops and stocks. Traders say that price control will only happen when at least 10 tons of onions arrive this week.
