Trump Says Iran War Will End Immediately After US Midterm Elections

US President Donald Trump declared that the war with Iran will end immediately after the upcoming US midterm elections in November. He said the conflict is being prolonged because of the elections and that oil prices will not decrease until after the polls, reflecting the political stakes involved.

Trump said, "I think the war's going to end immediately after the election because they can." He accused Iran of trying to influence the midterms, stating, "They're desperate to affect election." The president added that oil prices will remain high until the elections are over but predicted they would tumble downward right after.

US military actions have included limited, precise strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) minelaying forces posing imminent threats in the Strait of Hormuz. American forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriot missiles defending against Iranian strikes, with reports indicating damage to US aircraft including 'Warthog' and F-15 jets during overnight Iranian attacks on a Jordan air base.

Despite these hostilities, all IRGC attempted attacks reportedly failed. Trump claimed that Tehran "can't hold out any longer" and suggested the US would have to hit Iran very hard. He also commented on the US approach to Iran's Supreme Leader, noting that Washington views the situation differently if Tehran had a nuclear weapon.

The president’s statements underline the connection between ongoing military actions and the political calendar, emphasizing that peace talks or conflict resolution are unlikely before the midterm elections.
