Severe fire at Jalandhar mattress factory, 12 people rescued safely

A sudden severe fire broke out around 9 am on Thursday at a mattress manufacturing factory located on Basti Peer Dad Road in Jalandhar. 12 people present in the factory were safely evacuated, averting a major disaster. Ten fire department vehicles were engaged in extinguishing the fire.

Seeing smoke coming from inside the factory, nearby people started evacuating the employees. The fire spread rapidly because the mattresses and the materials used in them were flammable. The smoke was so dense that it could be seen from about two kilometers away.

On receiving the information, fire department teams reached the spot and tried to control the fire by spraying water from several directions. About 10 fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Preliminary investigation suggests the cause of the fire was a short circuit. Police from Basti Bawa Khel police station are also investigating the case.

One person was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment
