282 Millimeters of Rain in 24 Hours in Jhalawar, Gates of Two Dams Opened

JHALAWAR। The monsoon has become active again in Jhalawar district. In the last 24 hours, 282 millimeters of rain was recorded in the district, leading to the opening of gates of two dams. Four gates of Chhapi Dam have been opened to release 10,870 cusecs of water.

Continuous rain lasted for three hours across the district since Thursday night. Good intermittent rain was also recorded in Jhalawar city at night. The rain resumed around 7:30 am and continued steadily until about 11 am.

Due to the rain, gates of two dams in the district had to be opened. Four gates of Chhapi Dam have been opened one meter each to release water. One gate of Kalisindh Dam has also been opened.

Because of the rain, water is flowing out from drains onto the city roads, affecting traffic movement.

From January 1 to September 4, 2026, a total of 9,561 millimeters of rain has been recorded in the district. In the last 24 hours until 8 am, 282 millimeters of rain was recorded.

According to the control room, 10,870 cusecs of water is being released from Chhapi Dam, which has raised water levels in rivers and drains.

The rising water levels due to rain have created a flood situation in the district, and the administration remains alert.
