The Indian Space Research Organisation launched the EOS-05 satellite from Satish Dhawan Centre, Sriharikota, on 4 September. This is India's first Earth observation satellite to image from a geosynchronous orbit.

The EOS-05 satellite was successfully placed into the designated sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit using the GSLV-F17 rocket. According to ISRO, this mission is a significant technical step in India's satellite imaging capabilities.

The main objective of this satellite is to monitor the Earth's surface from space and provide high-quality images. In geosynchronous orbit, the satellite will be able to continuously observe a large area of the Earth, making monitoring of large regions and studying periodic changes more effective.

The EOS-05 mission is an important part of India's growing Earth Observation and space-based monitoring framework. Earlier, ISRO developed the capability to gather data related to Earth's resources, weather, and environment through several satellites in the EOS series. With this mission, India has expanded its technological capabilities in the field of Earth observation.
