Rohit Sharma's Future to be Decided in Important BCCI Meeting
The Board of Control for Cricket in India will decide the future of former Team India captain Rohit Sharma in its meeting scheduled in Mumbai on September 3. The meeting will also discuss the futures of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia has dismissed rumors about Rohit Sharma's retirement.
Rohit Sharma has retired from Test and T20 Internationals and is now playing only in ODIs. During the England tour in July, the Lord's ODI was said to be his last match, but he answered critics by scoring a century in that match.
During this tour, a member of the selection committee sent Rohit a message to retire, which upset him. The message implied that the selection committee had decided to move on and Rohit was no longer part of their plans.
However, Rohit Sharma and his close associates have remained silent on the matter. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia completely dismissed these rumors before the match.
In this BCCI meeting, besides Rohit Sharma, the futures of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will also be discussed. Currently, there is not much pressure on Kohli and Jadeja, but Rohit will be the main focus of this meeting.
The meeting will also consider the team's poor performance and the roadmap for the upcoming ODI World Cup. India's two captains Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, head coach Gautam Gambhir, selectors chairman Ajit Agarkar, and board secretary Devjit Saikia will participate in this meeting.
