Udhayanidhi Stalin accuses CM Vijay of diversionary tactics in Assembly

Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin accused Chief Minister Joseph C Vijay of resorting to diversionary tactics during a heated Assembly session. He alleged that Vijay failed to respond to 15 specific questions about the state and shielded a cartel monopolising mining contracts, prompting the opposition to stage a walkout.

Speaking to reporters after the opposition party walked out of the House, Udhayanidhi Stalin criticised the Chief Minister for not addressing pointed questions on the state's condition. He said, "Instead of answering my 15 specific questions regarding the state, the Chief Minister resorted to diversionary tactics."

He further accused Vijay of protecting a shadow cartel run by his close aides that monopolises state mining contracts. The opposition leader also highlighted deteriorating law and order in Tamil Nadu, which he said the Chief Minister dismissed during his reply.

Udhayanidhi Stalin described the Chief Minister as a "dummy" whose rise to power was an "accident". He added that Vijay himself faces an unresolved Income Tax case for allegedly concealing ₹15 crore.

The DMK boycotted the Assembly proceedings after Speaker JCD Prabhakar denied them an opportunity to rebut what they called "baseless" corruption allegations made by the Chief Minister during his 45-minute reply to the debate on the police department.

The opposition leader's remarks came following a blistering attack on the DMK by the Chief Minister, who cited allegations of organised corruption during the DMK regime. Udhayanidhi Stalin rejected these claims and accused Vijay of deflecting from the real issues facing the state.

The Assembly session saw tense exchanges as the ruling party and opposition clashed over governance and corruption allegations, with the opposition choosing to walk out in protest.
