State Bank of India has reduced the limit of free transactions from other banks' ATMs for its salary package account holders. From October 1, 2026, customers will now be able to make only 5 free transactions per month, including both cash withdrawals and non-financial services.

Previously, salary account holders were allowed 10 free transactions per month from other banks' ATMs. Under the new rule, this number has been reduced to 5. This includes all transactions such as balance checks, mini statements, and cash withdrawals.

If a customer exceeds 5 free transactions in a month, a fee of ₹23 per transaction will be charged for cash withdrawals from other banks' ATMs. For non-financial services like balance inquiry or mini statements, a charge of ₹11 per transaction will apply. The bank has not increased the transaction fees; only the number of free transactions has been reduced.

This change will apply only to salary package account holders. There will be no impact of this rule on SBI's regular savings or other accounts. Existing rules and charges will continue for such accounts.

There will be no change in SBI's own ATMs and cardless cash withdrawal facilities. Cash withdrawals from ATMs without using a card will remain free. However, the bank may introduce new rules in the future.

Customers are advised to use ATMs keeping this change in mind to avoid unnecessary charges.
