A total of 142 candidates are in the fray for the Govindgarh-Rambas Municipal Corporation elections. Voting will take place on September 11, which will decide the direction of the city's development and democracy along with the selection of councilors. Congress MLA Ganesh Ghoghra has accused the BJP of pressure and money power politics.

A total of 142 candidates are contesting from 25 wards of the municipal corporation. By August 31, 222 nominations had been received, out of which 36 candidates withdrew their names. No candidate has been elected unopposed from any ward.

Independent candidate Rohit Kumar Sain alleged that the BJP candidate placed Rs 1 lakh at his house to make him withdraw his nomination. Rohit said that BJP candidate Amit Kumar Saraswat had been continuously pressuring him to withdraw his nomination for the last 4-5 days. Amit came to his house between 7 and 7:30 pm and after about one and a half hours of discussion, placed Rs 1 lakh on the table and left.

Rohit said that he also recorded a video while the money was being placed so that no false rumors spread against him. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and recovered Rs 1 lakh. The police are investigating all aspects and examining CCTV footage.

Congress MLA and Dungarpur district president Ganesh Ghoghra accused the BJP and the Indian Tribal Party, saying that the BJP, scared of a possible defeat, has resorted to pressure and money power politics. He said that the BJP should contest elections by going among the people, not by intimidating councilors and resorting to buying and selling.

Ghoghra accused the BJP of corruption and arbitrariness in Dungarpur for 35 years and appealed to voters to vote in favor of Congress candidates. He called the Indian Tribal Party the BJP's 'second party' and questioned why, if it is a friend of the tribals, it did not field candidates in all 40 wards.
