Delhi HC directs Wrestling Federation of India to set guidelines for women wrestlers

The Delhi High Court has asked the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to formulate clear guidelines for women athletes. This direction came during the hearing of a plea filed by grappler Vinesh Phogat, who recently returned from maternity leave and is seeking permission to participate in competitions.

Vinesh Phogat's counsel stated that they attended a meeting called by the WFI at the Constitution Club in response to a show cause notice. However, no representatives from the federation were present at the meeting. The WFI later claimed that Phogat was not participating in the meeting. The court's observations arose in the context of this plea, emphasizing the need for the federation to establish clear rules for women wrestlers returning from maternity leave.
