Lord Shri Krishna appeared on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. Janmashtami is celebrated on this day, and worship performed with devotion increases positivity and feelings of devotion in the mind. According to astrologer Dr. Shripati Tripathi, bringing five special items home on Janmashtami 2026 is considered auspicious.

The first item to bring home on Janmashtami is a wooden flute. The connection between Lord Krishna and his flute is considered very special, symbolizing love, sweetness, and harmony. It should be placed near the idol of Lord Krishna at the worship place, creating a positive and peaceful atmosphere in the home.

The second item is an idol of a cow and calf. Lord Krishna is known by the names Gopal and Govind, so the cow holds special religious significance in worship. On the occasion of Janmashtami, some families have the tradition of bringing home an idol of a cow and calf, which requires feelings of devotion and respect.

The third item is the Shri Yantra, which in the Sanatan tradition is considered a sacred yantra related to Goddess Lakshmi. On Janmashtami, worship of Lakshmi-Narayan is also performed along with Lord Krishna. Therefore, the Shri Yantra can be brought home before Janmashtami and installed at the worship place, and worship should be done according to one’s religious tradition.

The fourth item is a Tulsi plant, which is considered sacred in Hinduism. There is a tradition of offering Tulsi leaves in the worship of Lord Vishnu, and Krishna is considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. A Tulsi plant can be planted at home before Janmashtami.

The fifth item is pure desi ghee, which is used in special worship at the time of Lord Krishna’s birth on the night of Janmashtami. It should be kept at home in advance, and prayers for the family’s happiness, peace, and well-being should be offered.
